I am a clinical psychologist in the practice of psychotherapy for over 25 years.  It is very fulfilling for me to work with people who want to heal their pain and create happy, interesting lives.

A variety of past experience in different settings has given me a well-rounded understanding of human nature, and the types of difficulties clients face.  I have practiced in hospitals, and various outpatient clinics, working with adults, children, families, couples, and group therapy.

One of my specialties is the treatment of traumatic experiences through the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.  This type of treatment is effective for individuals who have had accidents and injuries, as well as those who've experienced various types of childhood or adult mistreatment and abuse.  EMDR helps desensitize the intense emotion associated with such experiences, which allows the client to put the issue in perspective and move on with their life.

I also specialize in psychological testing for adults and children.  This includes personality and diagnostic testing, as well as evaluation of cognitive functioning.  Assessing cognitive functioning is important to rule/out Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disability, and other factors that affect school and college performance.  Likewise, assessing a child's intelligence level when they are suspected of giftedness, is critical in securing resources the school offers to provide an appropriately challenging curriculum for that child.

My undergraduate degree is from the University of Wisconsin Parkside, my Masters degree is from Marquette University, and I achieved my doctorate degree from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.  I am a member of the Wisconsin Psychological Association, the National Register of Health Service Providers, and the EMDR International Association.

I enjoy expanding my knowledge in the field through attending workshops and researching topics relevant to my clients. I also greatly appreciate learning from the wisdom of my clients, and teaming together to achieve their treatment goals.

On a personal note, I am married, with two wonderful adult children, a dog that loves to run, and a cat that likes to tease the dog.  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I stay active with exercise, hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing when the weather cooperates.  I also love photographing the beauty of nature; I hope you enjoy the photos in this website.
